Gårdsarkivet sträcker sig från 1720-talet till 1890-talet. De flesta dokument utgör handlingar efter Nils Olsson, f 1861 och innehavare av kronoskattehemmanet Hällsäter ss1 om 4 öresland (ursprungshemmanet no 1 var om 8 öresland). Kronoskattehemman innebär att kronan (staten) hade avstått rätten att inneha kronohemmanet till en enskild brukare och hans efterkommande (bördsrätt) men behöll rätten att uppbära den årliga räntan och hade förköpsrätt ifall hemmanet blev till salu. Motsatsen var ett rent kronohemman.
